Zinedine Zidane desperate to sign £150,000-a-week Liverpool star

Zinedine Zidane is determined to resurrect a deal for Sadio Mane – who he was close to signing at the end of his first stint as Real Madrid manager.

The French coach has returned to the dugout at the Santiago Bernabeu and is preparing to overhaul an aging squad in the summer transfer window.

Liverpool forward Mane was expected to seal a move to the Spanish capital in the summer of 2018, with Zidane desperate to make the 26-year-old his first signing, however, the manager’s sudden departure saw the deal scrapped.

Incoming Real Madrid coach Julen Lopetegui decided to pursue other targets and Mane remained at Anfield.

But now Zidane has returned to Real Madrid after the sacking of Santiago Solari, he wants to finally complete the transfer he had his heart set on a year ago, according to France Football.

Mane has been in sensational form this season and he’s joint-second in the Premier League scoring charts.

His 17 goals have only been matched by team-mate Mohamed Salah, Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane, while Sergio Aguero’s 18-goal haul leads the way.

However, Liverpool may face a serious fight to keep him this summer with Zidane and Real Madrid ready to splash the cash.
