Professional wrestling and football have mixed a few times over the years.
From Jose Mourinho being called out during a WWE television show in London to Wayne Rooney slapping Bad News Barrett last year, footballers have often gotten involved when it comes to the squared circle.
No footballer is yet to go as far as to step into a WWE ring yet (unless your former Germany goalkeeper Tim Wiese) but if Irish superstar and Liverpool fan Sheamus got his way, one of his favoured sides’ most creative threats would be his new tag team partner.
The former WWE Champion was asked which Liverpool player he’d most like to tag with and Sheamus indicated that while he would enjoy working with either Philippe Coutinho or Roberto Firmino, the impact Sadio Mane has made means he’d be his ideal partner.
Sheamus told The Sport Bible: “Obviously Coutinho’s the main man at the moment and also Firmino but what a difference Sadio Mane has made to that team.
“I’m a big Sadio Mane fan, he’s added so much excitement to that team so I’d have to pick him.”
Sheamus will instead have to focus on his partnership with Cesaro as they gear up for their WWE Raw tag team title match with The New Day in a couple of weeks.
Mane meanwhile will have to be happy with helping the Reds battle for silverware on the pitch in his debut season at Anfield.
