What Roberto Firmino has done 48 hours after Liverpool’s CL final defeat sums him up

Unlike Loris Karius, many fellow Liverpool players have the World Cup this summer to distract themselves from their Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid.

For the goalkeeper, he will have months to think about his two errors and won’t have any chance to bounce back before the start of next season. Whether or not he’ll still be Liverpool’s No.1 by then is looking doubtful.

However, many of the Liverpool squad will be pleased to be heading off to Russia in a couple of weeks, rather than on their holidays, as they attempt to forget all about what happened in Kiev.

And it seems one man is very keen to be playing football again, rather than resting.

That man is Roberto Firmino.

The Brazilian wasn’t at his best in the final but after an incredible season for Liverpool, his national side gave him a few days to recover before meeting up with the team.

However, Firmino doesn’t do rest.

FIRMINO IS BACK ON IT
The forward joined his compatriots on Monday evening, two days before he was expected to.

Firmino travelled to London and was seen training with Brazil at Tottenham’s training ground on Monday, less than 48 hours after losing the Champions League final.

“I had two more days to stay home, but I decided to come early and start now,” Firmino told the Brazil website.

Now that’s commitment.

Brazil actually have a friendly against Croatia at Anfield on Sunday before they face Austria.

They will then head to Russia, where they’re considered favourites by bookmakers to win the tournament.

But the reason Firmino was so keen to join up with the Brazil side early could be to impress manager Tite.

The Liverpool forward isn’t guaranteed a starting position at the World Cup and faces competition from Manchester City’s Gabriel Jesus.

Turning up to training two days early could be the difference between starting Brazil’s first World Cup game against Switzerland, or being on the bench.
