What Oxlade-Chamberlain & Henderson commented on Salah’s Instagram just says it all

On what was a historic European night for Liverpool, Mohamed Salah once again stole headlines as the Reds beat Manchester City 2-1 to reach the Champions League semi-finals.

Salah, who also scored at Anfield in the 3-0 win last week, scored the vital away goal in the 56th minute with his 39th of the season.

When Sadio Mane ran through one-on-one and Ederson saved, the ball fell straight to the feet of Liverpool’s star man to chip into the back of the net.

Roberto Firmino later added a second at the Etihad to make it 2-1 (5-1 on aggregate) and put the tie beyond doubt.

Liverpool came under a lot of pressure in the opening stages of the game but eventually found their rhythm to see out victory over the soon-to-be Premier League champions.

“They were pressing high and had lots of chances, so at the beginning we struggled,” said Salah in his post-match interview. “But we came back and fought hard to get the result.

“I’ve changed my position many teams but we play as a team and everyone gives 100%. We are happy with the result.

“I’ve said many times I play for the team and I try to score to help them win the game – that’s the most important thing for me.”

Salah’s debut season at Liverpool just keeps getting better and better lately, although the best could be yet to come.

Depending on who the Reds get in the Champions League semi-finals in Friday’s draw – Kopites will be praying its AS Roma – a final could be on the horizon.

For now Liverpool’s players must soak in what they achieved on Wednesday night, with a number of them posting on Instagram to celebrate the victory.

Salah, for example, kept it simple with a small collection of photos and just a football emoji for the caption. Check out his post below.
