Liverpool fans needed cheering up following their 2-1 defeat to Manchester United on Saturday.
And they got the perfect remedy on Tuesday by watching Sevilla send United crashing out of the Champions League by winning 2-1 at Old Trafford.
Wissam Ben Yedder did what Liverpool’s formidable attack couldn’t do by scoring twice within six minutes of coming off the bench to kill the tie.
But a few days ago, United’s defence managed to keep Liverpool very quiet, hardly giving Premier League top goalscorer Mohamed Salah a kick.
In fact, the Egyptian was so ineffective that countless jokes and memes followed claiming that Ashley Young was carrying him around in his pocket.
And Young himself even got carried away.
On Tuesday ahead of their match with Sevilla, he posted on his Instagram story: “Stop asking me! He’s not in my pocket, I swear he’s not,” in reference to the Salah jokes.
But Young played as though he was actually carrying another player in his pocket against Sevilla as United were knocked out of the Champions League.
And Salah decided to get his own back.
Immediately after the final whistle, Salah posted the following image on his very own Instagram story.
Mo Salah absolutely finishing Ashley Young on Instagram, after United were knocked out of the Champions League tonight.

It might have just been a co-incidence but Liverpool fans were convinced that Salah was indirectly replying to Young.
And that looked even more obvious after the tweet Salah sent minutes later.
“The UCL draw can’t come soon enough.”

Very, very cheeky from Salah.
LIVERPOOL FANS REACT
He’s been incredible on the pitch this season and Salah might have just become a Liverpool legend for his social media performance.
Mo Salah trolling Ashley Young tonight has made by night. Smashing day. Good night

Salah taking a dig at Ashley Young is the best thing to have happened today.

Man purposely got himself pocketed by Ashley Young to bait him into putting that shite Instagram story, just so he could come out with this once United went out.
Fucking 6D chess being played by Mohamed Salah Ghaly. https://t.co/j3rrVqHgDk

You can’t blame Salah for looking forward to the quarter-final draw, though.
Liverpool will be joined by Real Madrid, Juventus, Roma, Sevilla and Manchester City – with Bayern Munich (5-0 win in the first-leg vs Besiktas) surely set to be the seventh side. Barcelona and Chelsea will battle it out to complete the draw.
