What John Arne Riise tweeted about Emre Can during Liverpool v Man City is spot on

While everyone at Liverpool is trying to get over the departure of Philippe Coutinho during the January transfer window, there could soon be another first-team regular leaving the club.

That’s because Emre Can’s contract expires at the end of the season and it’s looking increasingly unlikely that he will commit his future to the club.

Reports suggest that the German midfielder wants to insert a release clause into his new deal – something that Liverpool aren’t agreeing to.

As a result, Can’s now able to sign a pre-contract with a foreign club this month with Juventus being heavily linked with the 24-year-old.

Nevertheless, Jurgen Klopp has continued to select the central midfielder in recent weeks and did so once again against Manchester City.

And leaving the club certainly doesn’t appear to be in Can’s thoughts right now. That’s because he’s producing some decent displays in Liverpool’s midfield and did so once again City during Liverpool’s incredible 4-3 victory.

In fact, his performance was so good that it prompted former Liverpool player John Arne Riise to tweet.

The Norwegian wrote: “Give Can what he wants and sign him please. Beast in the middle today. Great player,” during the first-half as Can dominated the match.

And it was something that Liverpool fans totally agreed with. Check out the reaction to Riise’s tweet from supporters:
