WATCH: Liverpool fans want Lovren sold after his mistakes for both Tottenham goals

It was a case of same old Liverpool within four minutes of Sunday’s game against Tottenham – or, rather, same old Dejan Lovren.

Jurgen Klopp decided against signing a new centre-back in the summer transfer window, much to every Liverpool fans’ bewilderment.

And the reason? Because he genuinely believed there was no one better available.

“We have four (centre-backs), I don’t think we need more,” Klopp said in August. “In the moment I’m fine. We cannot force the things and we would never get a centre-back just because.

“Look out there and tell me five [players] that would make us stronger, five. Then you win a prize! It’s difficult how it is.”

How the German must regret not splurging on a new centre-back following the opening 45 minutes against Spurs at Wembley.

Tottenham took a two-goal lead within 12 minutes and both goals were the result of individual mistakes from Lovren.

For Kane’s opener, the Croatia international tried to played offside from a throw-in and simply watched as the ball flew over his head.

Kane then took the ball round the onrushing Simon Mignolet and fired into an open goal. Check out Lovren’s first error in the video below.

But as if that wasn’t bad enough, Lovren then completely misjudged the flight of the ball and missed his header, which sent Kane clean through on goal.

Kane then squared for Son Heung-min to make it 2-0 with a clinical finish.

Lovren has become error prone during his three years at Liverpool and his two mistakes against Spurs just about summed up how much of a liability he is in the back four.

Unsurprisingly, Liverpool fans slammed the 28-year-old on Twitter and are now demanding he leaves the club.
