Liverpool finally have a goalkeeper they can rely on in Alisson Becker.
The goalkeeper position has been the Reds’ biggest problem in recent years.
Indeed, Loris Karius’ performance against Real Madrid in the Champions League final was an utterly painful experience.
Liverpool knew they would have to spend big to resolve the issue and it took £67 million to convince Roma to sell.
But if Alisson can help Liverpool win major trophies, that fee – a world record for a goalkeeper – will be worth it.
Supporters finally got the chance to see the Brazilian in action as Liverpool faced Napoli in Dublin.
Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Nabi Keita were also among the starters – but everyone just wanted to see Alisson.
ALISSON’S PERFECT PASS
And the 25-year-old wasted no time in leaving an impression.
Liverpool took the lead in the fourth minute through James Milner.
But the attack started with a lovely pass from Alisson to Salah.
The 25-year-old picked Salah out with a glorious long-range pass that the Egyptian could run on to.
That’s what Liverpool paid £67m for.
Alisson isn’t just a safer option than Karius or Simon Mignolet; his distribution is first class.
And when Salah and Sadio Mane are the targets, Liverpool could go from one end of the pitch to the other in a flash.
