England supporters fell back in love with the national team over the summer.
Gareth Southgate’s side surpasses expectations at the World Cup, delivering several memorable moments on their way to the semi-final.
There was Southgate’s waistcoat. England’s fancy set-pieces.
Harry Kane’s injury-time winner against Tunisia. The 6-1 mauling of Panama.
The penalty shoot-out win over Colombia. Kieran Trippier’s wonderful free-kick against Croatia.
From an England standpoint, the 2018 World Cup will live long in the memory.
It was easy to root for the players, who were dedicated on the pitch and engaging off it.
ALEXANDER-ARNOLD’S BRILLIANT MOMENT
For the first time in a long time, it looked like the players enjoyed playing for England.
So they will be pleased to be reunited once again for England’s upcoming matches against Spain and Switzerland.
England shared a brilliant clip from the end of a training session at St George’s Park on Thursday.
In the video, Trent Alexander-Arnold can be seen having an argument with Jesse Lingard, with the Manchester United man unhappy at the end of a training match.
“Nah move out the way you,” Lingard says. “You, cheating and that.”
Alexander-Arnold simply wants Lingard and Ruben Loftus-Cheek to be graceful in defeat, but both refuse to shake his hand.
Lingard then tells the Liverpool defender that he will shake his hand if he hits the crossbar from just inside the half.
What happens next is amazing.
That’s how you settle a debate.
Lingard had no choice but to shake Alexander-Arnold’s hand after that.
