BARCELONA will axe numerous players to sign Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho.
The Brazil international has been heavily linked with a move to the Nou Camp in recent months.
Barca tabled three bids for the playmaker in the summer but the Reds held firm and kept hold of their star man, despite him handing in a transfer request.
The La Liga giants are expected to return for Coutinho, 25, in January.
And according to Spanish outlet Diario Gol, Barca will sell five players to make room for Coutinho at the Nou Camp.
They say Arda Turan, Andre Gomes, Denis Suarez, Paco Alcacer and Aleix Vidal will be sold.
Speaking about his plans for his career earlier this week, Coutinho said: “To be honest, I never stopped to think about the player I wanted to become.
“I have idols and a success idea, yes, but I’ve never had a picture in my head of how it should be.
“I think it’s because I believe there are always ways to improve, so there can not really be a complete picture, it’s always a work in progress.
“I just aim to be the best version of myself in every aspect, every day.”
