Three Serie A giants desperate to sign 29-year-old Liverpool star for £25m

Dejan Lovren is a wanted man in Italy with three huge Serie A clubs circling for the Liverpool defender’s signature this summer.

The 29-year-old has not been a regular in the Reds defence this season, struggling with injury and falling behind Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip in the pecking order.

As a result, the Croatian has made just nine Premier League starts this campaign and one in the Champions League.

Napoli, AC Milan and Roma have all been alerted to the availability of the centre-back and are ready to offer £25m for his services, reports the Sun.

Lovren’s contract at Anfield runs till the summer of 2021 but after significant injury problems this season and with Jurgen Klopp preferring three other centre-backs he is unlikely to last till the end of that deal on Merseyside.

With Gomez and Matip also suffering with injuries this season, Klopp has been forced to play Fabinho in the centre of defence at times.

With this in mind, the Reds will look to replace Lovren if he does make a move in the close season, but they are likely to look for a cheaper option to act as fourth choice in the position.

Lovren is now fit and ready to play and he could yet play a key role in Liverpool’s bids for the Premier League title and the Champions League.
