Liverpool’s deadline day signing of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was one that raised more than a few eyebrows.
The 24-year-old did little to allay doubts amongst his new fans after getting off to a dreadful start in the famous red shirt.
The midfielder took time to settle into his new surroundings and it showed. He made his debut on one of the Anfield’s sides most forgettable days in recent history losing 5-0 to a rampant Manchester City.
Meawhile, his first start for the club in a cup game against Leicester City, was nothing short of abominable.
However, of late, The Ox has begun to prove many of his critics wrong – Thierry Henry being one of them.
Under the tutelage of Jurgen Klopp the Englishman looks like he could finally be fulfilling his incredible potential in the middle of the park.
His driving run through the heart of the Manchester City team before rifling into the bottom corner went a very long way to endearing him to his new fanbase, but his antics off the field have been just as effective in turning him into somewhat of a fan-favourite on the Anfield terraces.
On more than one occasion Chamberlain defended Philippe Coutinho in interviews in the build-up to his departure for Barcelona, choosing to deflect attention from difficult and awkward questions onto himself.
Liverpool fans also loved his apology to Sadio Mane after the Senegalese flyer was forced to present him with the man-of-the-match award after Liverpool’s home win over West Ham.
Now, fans are loving a video that has appeared on Oxlade Chamberlain’s social media of him ripping into teammate Dejan Lovren’s new haircut, while Andy Robertson laughs on in the background.

Lovren not impressed then but good on the Ox for calling him out. That fade is far too high.
Nevertheless, I am sure a few solid performances at the heart of the Liverpool defence, against a side coached by Pep Guardiola perhaps, will help the Croat move on from Ox’s niggles.
Despite their loss to Manchester United, it is clear to see that the spirit in the Liverpool dressing room is fantastic which is a great sign with Manchester City now looming on the horizon.
