PHILLIPE COUTINHO still wants to join Barcelona but only if Lionel Messi stays at club, according to reports in Spain.
Coutinho has been heavily linked with the La Liga giants for several months despite signing a new contract at Anfield in January.
Spanish outlet Don Balon claim the 24-year-old remains interested in a move to the Nou Camp.
But they claim he wants Messi to commit his future to the Catalan club before he’ll agree to move.
Messi has been locked in contract talks for some time but is expected to put pen to paper soon.
Should the Barca legend sign in the coming months, Don Balon suggest that Coutinho will be open to holding talks over a move to Spain.
Coutinho has been in impressive form once again for Liverpool this season.
The Brazilian has scored seven goals and provided six assists in the top-flight, including a fine strike in Liverpool’s 3-1 win over Everton today.
