Sturridge Takes to Social Media Fueling Speculation of an Anfield Move for £25m Midfielder

Daniel Sturridge has set Liverpool fans’ tongues wagging by apparently taking to Instagram to endorse a deal that would bring England team-mate Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to Anfield next season.

The Ox’ joined Arsenal from Southampton at the age of 17, and was widely touted as one of England’s brightest prospects. However, the 23-year-old’s development at Arsenal has stuttered in recent years, with Arsenal struggling to rediscover their former glories.

Oxlade-Chamberlain started just 16 matches last season and in the past few days has reportedly rejected a contract extension, fuelling rumours of an imminent move.

As reported by Empire of the Kop, Daniel Sturridge liked a post on Instagram of the Arsenal man flanked by Liverpool’s Adam Lallana and Sturridge himself captioned ‘So you coming to #Liverpool Alex?’ cheekily encouraging a summer exit for the youngster.

Oxlade-Chamberlain is reportedly seeking assurances of regular starts next season, and with both Chelsea and Man City also strongly linked with the winger, he may seek pastures new if Arsene Wenger can’t guarantee the midfielder a regular place in his starting 11.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has reportedly voiced his strong admiration for the 23-year-old in recent wekks and reports suggest the Merseyside club would be prepared to meet Arsenal’s £25m valuation, should he decide to leave.

With just one year left to run on his current contract, Arsenal will be anxious not to let one of their brightest talents leave for free after signing him for a reported £11m in 2011.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s current contract with Arsenal runs until June 2018.
