Steven Gerrard is confident that Liverpool will be able to attract some top signings thanks to Jurgen Klopp in the summer.
The Liverpool manager guided the Merseyside outfit to a fourth-place finish in the Premier League table in the 2016-17 campaign.
The Reds secured their spot in next season’s Champions League competition thanks to a 3-0 win against Middlesbrough on the final day of the season.
Klopp signed seven players in the 2016 summer transfer window after the charismatic German coach led Liverpool to an eighth-place finish in his first season in charge.
Liverpool have been linked with a move to sign Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk and Porto goalkeeper Iker Casillas in recent weeks.
Speaking to the Liverpool Echo about potential signings under Klopp this summer, former Liverpool captain Gerrard backed the manager to secure some good additions.
“If I’m a top player around Europe and Jurgen picks the phone up and I get offered the chance to play for this club, which is moving forward in every single department and has a world class manager leading it, I’d be jumping at that opportunity,” he said.
“I want to play for him and I am 37 next week! For me, it’s such an exciting project. Not just because we qualified for the Champions League but the whole project.
“The next three, four, five, six years, whatever it turns out to be, are going to be very exciting and players will want to be a part of what Jurgen is doing.”
Liverpool signed Senegal international Sadio Mane in a £34m deal from Southampton in last summer’s transfer window.
Georginio Wijnaldum was another premium signing after a £25m switch from Newcastle United.
