Anyone watching Sky Sports News last night will have seen Virgil van Dijk’s ‘mistake’ for the Netherlands constantly referenced – even though he didn’t really do anything wrong…
Serge Gnabry banged in a worldy for Germany, but Sky set an agenda that our Dutchman has hit a rut, following the mix-up for Fulham’s goal last weekend!
In the below clip, you’ll see a presenter advertising the Super Sunday game with Spurs as an opportunity for van Dijk to find form again…
‘van Dijk will be hoping to be in better form’. The absolute state of this, reminded me of why I hardly watch anything on Sky Sports especially when you pair it with Martin Tyler’s Liverpool commentary. He made a half-mistake and dealt fine with three 1-on-1s. Agenda is a joke. pic.twitter.com/khs8qXRIQL— ana (@ftblana) March 24, 2019
We’ve never heard such rubbish in all our life! Van Dijk has been the best defender on the planet this season by a considerable distance – and he is NOT – in any way, shape or form – struggling.
He’s been sensational, in fact, and the agenda Sky and other media outlets are pushing is downright weird, actually.
But it’s unlikely to affect Virg, so we shouldn’t care either.
Against Tottenham this coming weekend, van Dijk will start next to Joel Matip and be charged with keeping Harry Kane quiet.
With Manchester City playing Fulham on the Saturday, we’ll likely need a win to get back to the top of the table.
