Who is the fastest player at Liverpool Football Club?
It’s a question that’s been asked several times down the years due to the sheer amount of pace in Jurgen Klopp’s squad.
Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Alberto Moreno are among the fastest, while Nathaniel Clyne and Daniel Sturridge are also very quick.
Clyne was asked to name Liverpool’s fastest player back in 2016 and even though he fancied himself as the winner of a race, he ended up choosing Mane.
“Me and him in a race?” said Clyne. “That would be tough and a close one. I have to say he is faster – definitely when he is on the ball anyway.
“The top three are Sadio, then me and then Alberto.”
Philippe Coutinho also gave his verdict during his time at Liverpool but he snubbed Mane and named Salah, who joined from AS Roma in 2017 for £36.9m.
SALAH VS MANE
“I think it’s Mo,” said the Brazilian prior to his move to Barcelona. “He’s so fast. You can see on the pitch. He’s crazy.”
Only until Liverpool’s players all have a race will there be a victor, yet Mane is confident he knows exactly who would win between him and Salah.
In an interview with Copa 90, which you can watch below, Mane was asked: “Have you and Salah had a race yet to see who’s faster?”
And in response, the Senegalese said: “No. I’m quicker, I’m quicker. Guys, I’m quicker. Sorry, Mo.” Check it out at 4:30.
Well there you have it, Mane thinks he’s faster, which is funny because back in December he actually said Salah was No.1.
“I think he’s quicker than me! Mo is quicker than me!” said the 26-year-old. “Mo hasn’t tried to have a race with me yet but he is also very quick.”
Clearly something has happened in the nine months since for Mane to think that he’s overtaken Salah. If only they would just have a race already.
