Russian club offer Liverpool January hope: Defender could be on the move this month

LIVERPOOL are expected to receive a bid from Spartak Moscow for exiled defender Mamadou Sakho, according to reports.

Sakho, 26, has not played a minute for Liverpool all season after falling out with manager Jurgen Klopp.

The France international is free to leave Liverpool but has supposedly already snubbed the chance to join Sevilla.

It is claimed Sakho wants to remain in the Premier League, with West Brom, West Ham and Sunderland all keen on the player.

Inter Milan, Lyon and Marseille are also said to be eyeing Sakho before the January transfer window closes.

But French outlet Le10Sport claim Spartak have gone on the offensive to lure the centre-back to the Russian Premier League.

According to the report, Spartak officials have begun plotting the deal after wrapping up Luiz Adriano’s move to Moscow from AC Milan.

Liverpool would likely be receptive to an offer for Sakho, who was sent home from their pre-season tour of the USA.

However, convincing the player to leave England after he has resolved to remain in the Premier League could be a challenge.
