Roma’s tweet to Mo Salah after drawing Liverpool in the CL semi-final is pure class

Liverpool will take on AS Roma in the semi-final of the Champions League.

With Bayern Munich and reigning champions Real Madrid the other names in the draw, Jurgen Klopp will have identified the Italians as the team to face in the final four.

Of course, Liverpool will not take Roma lightly. This is a team who just came from 4-1 behind to knock Barcelona out of the quarter-final.

But still, Liverpool fans will be very optimistic heading into the tie.

The first leg will be played at Anfield on April 24 or 25, while the return fixture will be staged at the Stadio Olimpico on either May 1 or 2.

One exciting subplot surrounding the tie is, of course, the return of Mohamed Salah to Roma.

Liverpool signed the Egyptian from the Italians for £34.3 million last summer and he’s since gone on to enjoy a remarkable debut season on Merseyside.

His goal in Tuesday’s 2-1 victory against Manchester City was his 39th in all competitions this season – it’s been a campaign to remember for the 25-year-old.

And now he gets to return to his former club.

Roma sent a class message to Salah on Twitter after the draw, writing: “We’ll be opponents for 180 minutes, but whatever happens we’ll remain friends for life. Looking forward to seeing you again, @22mosalah! 👋”.

Salah responded: “100%”.
