JURGEN KLOPP wants Thomas Lemar as Philippe Coutinho’s replacement at Anfield.
But if they do decide to cash-in, it’s Lemar they want in through the Anfield entrance to take his place.
Journalist Duncan Castles said on the Transfer Window podcast: “From what I understand he (Klopp) wants Thomas Lemar this year.
“That’s the deal they have been working hard on – trying to convince Lemar to come to Liverpool as Coutinho’s replacement.
“Whether Coutinho will actually leave now is another matter.
“Barcelona’s interest in the player isn’t as strong as it was in the summer.
“They made it clear they don’t want to spend the same amount of money on him which isn’t a surprise given they’ve just handed Lionel Messi the biggest contract ever in football and had to give him a huge signing on fee on top which they weren’t expecting too and they are about to lose Javier Mascherano to China which means they’ve got to buy a centre-back in January.”
