Revealed: Liverpool’s biggest weakness Real Madrid will expose in UCL final

REAL MADRID will target Trent Alexander-Arnold in the Champions League final against Liverpool, according to Reds legend John Aldridge.

The right-back has been a revelation at Anfield this season since breaking into the team.Jurgen Klopp has shown a great deal of trust in the 19-year-old academy product. And Alexander-Arnold has not let his manager down, filling in for long-term absentee Nathaniel Clyne.

However, while he has made 29 first-team appearances this season, there have been some nervy moments.

Roma exposed Alexander-Arnold for his inexperience during their Champions League semi-final tie with Liverpool, which the Italians scored six times in.

And Aldridge feels facing the might of Real in the final in Kiev on May 26 may prove too much too soon for the teenager.

“Trent Alexander-Arnold will be a top-class defender but we have seen a few occasions in recent months when the opposition have targeted him on the right side of the Liverpool defence,” Aldridge wrote in his Irish Independent column.

“This kid is still only 19 and he has been given huge responsibility by Klopp.

“The experience he is getting of high-profile games will stand him in good stead but Liverpool are about to play in the biggest game of them all and it will be a huge test for Alexander-Arnold.

“The concern must be that Real Madrid will look at this teenager and believe mistakes can be extracted from him when the heat is on in Kiev, with that pressure unwelcome for even the most senior of professionals.

“After his fine performances against Manchester City in the Champions League quarter-finals, Alexander-Arnold looked vulnerable in the second leg against Roma last Wednesday night.”

Alexander-Arnold is expected to line-up in a back four with Virgil van Dijk, Dejan Lovren and Andy Robertson.

Liverpool, though, have their potent attack to rely on for goals with Mohamed Salah set to lead their charge against the reigning European champions.
