Report: Liverpool initiate contact over £14m-rated keeper after sending scouts

Liverpool are said to have opened talks with Turkish club Trabzonspor over their goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir.

Star TV – via the Star – claim that the Reds have made their interest known.

It’s thought that they sent scouts to watch Cakir over the weekend in Trabzonspor’s 1-1 draw away at title-chasing Fenerbahce.

It’s fair to say he caught the eye, making eight saves.

Cakir is only 23 years old and would be seen as Alisson’s long-term deputy after a hastily-arranged move for veteran Adrian over the summer.

He would reportedly cost £14million.

Cakir made his debut in September 2017 and stepped-up his involvement the following season.

He has now been able to nail-down the no.1 spot for the Europa League outfit.

In all, he has made 41 appearances for the club and kept nine clean sheets.

If there’s something in this story, and the player is keen on the move, he can seek out advice from a former Red.

Daniel Sturridge arrived over the summer after his Anfield contract expired.

Liverpool would likely prefer to promote Caoimhin Kelleher to the no.2 spot, but will only do so if they are sure he can adequately deputise.
