Reds legend explains how Draxler move opens door for Liverpool to sign £22m attacker

Liverpool legend Steve Nicol has insisted the arrival of Jese Rodriguez from Paris-Saint Germain this January is a possibility.

Rodriguez has been heavily linked with a move away from the French giants after struggling to fit in under Unai Emery since signing for PSG in the summer.

PSG spent big on Julian Draxler last week and Nicol thinks the arrival of another attacker in Paris means Liverpool are in a great position to sign Rodriguez.

‘I think this is possible,’ Nicol said.

‘The fact that PSG have gone and signed Julian Draxler means that there’s even less of a chance of Jese starting.

‘Klopp has already said that he is interested in added some more attacking wide players, so why not Jese?

‘I think this has got a chance, obviously it depends on the money but I think this deal (could happen).’

PSG boss Emery fueled the transfer talk around Rodriguez after he admitted the striker could be sold this month.

He said: ‘The possibility of him leaving is a reality.’

Rodriguez joined PSG from Real Madrid in a £22 million deal but has started just one game in the Ligue 1, scoring once in the league and in the French Cup.
