Reds hand surprise positive boost as key star returns to training two weeks earlier

Sadio Mane has returned to first-team training with Liverpool two weeks ahead of schedule.

The 25-year-old forward injured his hamstring while on international duty with Senegal last month and has not featured for the Reds since the side’s 1-1 draw with Newcastle on October 1.

It was initially expected that Mane would be sidelined for six weeks but the attacker was spotted at Melwood on Thursday in the lead-up to Liverpool’s  trip to West Ham.

Mane will not take part Olympic Stadium on Saturday afternoon but should return to the fold when the Merseyside giants host Southampton after the international break.

Asked about injuries to Mane and Adam Lallana on Tuesday, Jurgen Klopp said: ‘Both are looking good,’ ‘Sadio had a clearing session before he comes back to training and that was good as I understand. He now has a down day and on Thursday he should be in training.

‘Adam will be part of team training during the international break. ‘Both are in a good way but not good enough to involve them tomorrow or at the weekend.’
