REAL MADRID are prepared to offer Marco Asensio to Liverpool – but only if the Reds send Sadio Mane in the opposite direction.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is keeping his cards close to his chest this summer.
The Reds spent a massive £163m last summer, as the German added real quality to his side with the likes of Alisson and Fabinho.
Having spent so much last year, not forgetting the fact that Virgil van Dijk arrived for £75m just six months earlier, Liverpool are expected to have quieter off-season this time around.
However, Spanish giants Real Madrid could be about to tempt them into one of the biggest transfers this summer.
According to the Express, Zinedine Zidane and co. are willing to part with winger Asensio.
The 23-year-old Spain international made a total of 44 appearances last term, and was a regular for Los Blancos in one of their most disappointing season’s in recent history.
But following the arrivals of Eden Hazard and Rodrygo, competition for places in attack are as fierce as ever.
Typically a left winger, Zidane has five players to pick from in that position, with teenagers Vinicius Junior and Brahim Diaz also vying for a spot there.
As such, Bernabeu bosses feel Asensio is the right man to get the chop, with the club valuing the former Mallorca man at around £85m.
Klopp is thought to be an admirer of the trickster, as is Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino.
And the Express report that Liverpool have been offered the chance to sign him.
However, they will also ask that the Reds send them Mane in exchange
Zidane’s scouts have reportedly been watching the Premier League Golden Boot joint-winner for a while, and were impressed by his efforts in Liverpool’s successful Champions League campaign.
Were Mane to leave Anfield this summer, the Reds are understood to be considering Lille’s in-form Nicolas Pepe as a goal-scoring replacement.
However, PSG are also keen on the Ivory Coast international, but are waiting to see if the unsettled Neymar forces a move this transfer window.
