ZINEDINE ZIDANE has put Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho top of his wish-list at Real Madrid, according to Brazilian legend Roberto Carlos.
Coutinho has been in scintillating form this season and is an integral part of Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool team.
He scored his fifth goal of the season and set one up in Liverpool’s 6-1 win over Watford yesterday as they moved top of the Premier League for the first time in over two years.
And when asked yesterday about Madrid’s reported interested in Coutinho, Carlos told Diario Madridista:
“Because I’m Brazilian, I’m very happy that Coutinho is doing well. I don’t how long he has on his Liverpool contract Liverpool, but Real Madrid want to sign the very best players”.
And according to Spanish outlet Diario Gol, his form has attracted the interest of Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane.
The report suggests Zidane has been a long admirer of the Brazilian playmaker and has told club president Florentino Perez that Coutinho is top of his wish-list.
James Rodriguez is reportedly out of favour at Madrid and Zidane sees Coutinho as the perfect replacement for the Columbia international.
But Madrid won’t be able to make a bid for the 23-year-old until 2018 after they were slapped with a transfer ban.
Liverpool are understood to value Coutinho at around £67million but do not want to sell their star man.
