In what is proving to be a very difficult transfer window for Newcastle, the Chronicle is reporting today that Newcastle were offered 9 players on Friday and one of them was of interest to Benitez, but the name of the player was not mentioned.
We’ll have to wait to see how long Dwight Gayle will be out for, but if he is out for a number of weeks with his hamstring injury, Rafa may be forced to bring in another striker.
The very fact that the injury list is now starting to grow also means there should be more urgency at Newcastle and one player Rafa is keen on bringing in on loan is Liverpool’s talented 19 year-old winger Sheyi Ojo.
That’s according to the Chronicle.
The player was born in Hemel Hempstead and he was in great demand in 2011 when he was at MK Dons and big clubs were interested in him including Chelsea.
But he finally signed on at Liverpool for £2M with apparently Chelsea willing to bid a lot more for him.
He is now on the fringes of the Liverpool first team after making his competitive debut for Liverpool in January last year.
He has 12 total appearances for the Reds, but he has also been on loan at Wigan and Wolves over the last couple of seasons.
Rafa could give the teenager some games this season and he looks a very good player in the making and it seems Rafa is genuinely interested in getting this player in on loan this month.
Ojo has represented England at U16, U17, U18 and U19 levels.
