Pundit suggests shocking Liverpool U-Turn possible on rejected 26-year-old

Mamadou Sakho has been well and truly frozen out by Liverpool’s manager Jurgen Klopp.

The German sent him home from our summer per-season tour of America, told him to find a loan club, and hasn’t even selected him on a bench yet this campaign.

The Frenchman is fully fit, but Klopp simply has no time for him – despite the inconsistencies of all our defenders bar Joel Matip.

Stan Collymore though reckons Sakho could be recalled, following our miserable defensive performance away to Bournemouth on Sunday, where we conceded four goals and threw away a two-goal lead.

“As for the central defensive two, I just wonder if Jurgen may be thinking of not yet getting rid of Sakho you know,” he told Boylesports.

“Great ball player he may not be but he’s one of the top two or three in box reactive defenders in the league and again, maybe if he were on duty today, his leadership and “ye shall not pass” attitude may have made a difference.”

Maybe this is so, and Liverpool would have defended better with Sakho alongside Dejan Lovren at the weekend, but it’s pretty clear Klopp’s decision has already been made.

For whatever reason, he doesn’t trust Sakho and wants him away from the club and the first-team environment.

The centre-back is capable of defending exceptionally, and put in some terrific performances towards the back-end of last season, but our manager is not going to change his mind now – and in many ways – the 26-year-old only has himself to blame.
