Problems pile up for Man Utd ahead of Liverpool clash

Jose Mourinho has not had an easy ride at Man Utd so far, and his problems could get even worse on Monday as he takes his faltering United team to Anfield to face Liverpool.

The Man Utd fans were hoping that the international break would give Mourinho’s men a break and ready them for the Liverpool clash – but the very opposite has happened.

Mourinho’s main concern comes in the form of injuries. The Portuguese boss is still without Phil Jones, who has been out for several weeks now, whilst concerns are also being raised over the fitness of Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Luke Shaw.

Both have missed several games since the start of the season, with the general fitness of Mkhitaryan an immediate concern in particular. The Armenian is yet to get firing so far at United, despite a big-money move to the club over the summer.

That is not where United’s problems stop, however. The story of the season so far has been Wayne Rooney’s fall from grace, and that is a very immediate problem that Jose Mourinho faces. He must get the best of his captain, or it could be his undoing.

All of this, and the Man Utd fans are still yet to consider the threat of Liverpool. The Reds have been on fire this season – and Jurgen Klopp is no doubt smelling blood ahead of the crunch clash on Monday night.
