Arsenal are ready to make a move to sign Atletico Madrid goalkeeper and Liverpool top target Jan Oblak.
Petr Cech will still have a year remaining on his contract this summer, while David Ospina’s deal with the Gunners also expires in the summer of 2019.
Arsenal are in the market for Cech’s long-term replacement and has been linked with several options, including Bayer Leverkusen’s Bernd Leno and Stoke City’s Jack Butland. But according to AS, Oblak is at the top of Arsenal’s shortlist and the club are willing to pay the 25-year-old’s €100 million (£89m) release clause.
The report claims that Arsenal’s head of relations, Raul Sanllehi, is intent on attempting to recruit Oblak from Atletico Madrid.
But the Gunners are facing competition from Liverpool as Jurgen Klopp seeks a new first-choice goalkeeper to overtake Loris Karius and Simon Mignolet, who is weighing up his future at Anfield.
Paris Saint-Germain will also be in the market for a new goalkeeper this summer and Oblak is firmly on their radar.
