Philippe Coutinho eyes shock transfer as he tells Barcelona teammates he’ll leave in summer

Philippe Coutinho has told his teammates that he is considering leaving Barcelona at the end of the season.

Manchester United have reportedly held initial talks about a potential deal this summer, while Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus have also been linked with the former Liverpool midfielder.

Coutinho was signed by Barca for an initial €120 million (£103m) fee in January last year, although the deal could rise to €160m (£142m) after add-ons.

But the Brazil international has been unable to make a significant impact at Camp Nou and is now seriously considering his future ahead of the summer transfer window.

The 26-year-old has started just 16 games in La Liga and is understood to be concerned about his lack of playing time.

And according to Sport, Coutinho has admitted to some of his Brazil teammates during the international break: ‘I am thinking about leaving Barcelona, I know that it is a difficult decision, but it can be the best thing for my career.’

The report also claims that Coutinho is aiming to be one of the star players in a top European club and is trying to regain the same status he had during his time at Liverpool.

Coutinho is reportedly fully aware that while Lionel Messi remains at Barcelona his ambition will not be met, which is why he is considering changing clubs.

Barcelona have held talks with Coutinho’s agents and have insisted that they are confident that the midfielder will be able to produce his best form at Camp Nou.

But the Spanish champions are still not aware of Coutinho’s final decision over his future and whether he will push through a move away this summer.
