Mohamed Salah capped off a quite superb Premier League season by notching his 32nd goal of the season in Liverpool’s 4-0 win vs Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday.
He won the Golden Boot in the process, while also breaking the record for the most goals scored in a 38-game Premier League season.
He admitted after the game that it was ‘special’ to break the record.
“This is very special,” he told Sky Sports.
“It’s always in mind to help the team to win games, now we are in the Champions League next year and I have won the award, so I am very proud.
“It’s always in mind to succeed in England, to give 100 per cent and succeed here. I have had a great season.
“I am trying to improve every year so I am very happy. I am improving every year. It’s special to break the record here.
And when asked whether he could recreate his performances next season, he added: “I will, don’t worry. I will do my best to win it, 100 per cent.”
PETER CROUCH’S TWEET ABOUT SALAH
While it was a good day for Salah, it was also a decent day for Peter Crouch.
Although Stoke’s relegation from England’s top tier had already been confirmed, Crouch scored the winner as his side battled back from 1-0 down to defeat Swansea 2-1.
The 37-year-old has become known for his hilarious Twitter account, and he added another quality tweet after the game today.
In reference to the Egyptian winger breaking the Premier League record for goals in a 38-game season, Crouch said: “Pleased to equal Salah’s premier league record today. We both got one.”
