Mohamed Salah has scored a handful of breathtaking goals since joining Liverpool in 2017 – but his strike against Chelsea on Sunday afternoon might well have been the best of the lot.
The Egyptian forward rifled a 20-yard screamer past Kepa Arrizabalaga to put the Reds 2-0 up against Maurizio Sarri’s side at Anfield.
Salah’s rocket came just minutes after Sadio Mane had broken the deadlock with a close-range header – and it will be remembered by Liverpool fans for many years to come, you suspect.
“I don’t think, I just feel! This one I decided as it was far out I just to go with power and it was a bit lucky the ball hit the net like that!” Salah told Sky Sports after the match.
“Henderson did a great job [taking the defender away] and it makes it easier for me. He was part of the goal of course, it’s part of our job in training, we do tactical things and I think it’s working well.”
Jurgen Klopp said the goal “blew him away”, while Sarri added: “The second goal was a shocking goal – in a good way for them, not for us.”
However, it’s the reaction of former Newcastle United and Manchester City goalkeeper Shay Given which has gone viral online.
Given was providing analysis for the Premier League’s global audience alongside Arsenal legend Ian Wright and ex-Liverpool winger Steve McManaman but was eating his dinner while the second half was going on.
As he was chowing down, Salah smacked in his Goal of the Season contender, prompting a wild reaction from McManaman and Wright.
Given, however, was far more interested in his dinner.

The person who initially posted the clip claimed Given was eating steak – but the retired shot-stopper put these rumours to bed on Twitter.
“It was actually a Chicken Mo Salah I was eating Nathan,” he commented.
