Liverpool have identified the Napoli’s Faouzi Ghoulam as a target this summer and could use Alberto Moreno as part of a deal to sign the full back according to journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.
The £17m-rated French-born Algerian international has proven to be an astute signing for Napoli since joining in 2014, and his stellar performances have alerted Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool, who apparently do not see James Milner as a permanent option at left-back.
The Merseyside club had previously enquired about the availability of Fulham wonderkid Ryan Sessegnon and Leicester U21 international Ben Chilwell, however interest in both players now seems to have cooled. Ghoulam would also prove a more experienced signing for a Liverpool side which has often been criticised for lacking star players.
The possibility of a swap deal between Moreno and Ghoulam has been touted after the Italian side made an £11m bid for the Liverpool outcast, who is currently deemed surplus to requirements at Anfield.
The Spain international featured just 16 times last season – mostly from the bench – and has seen his future at Liverpool diminish after losing the support of the Merseyside faithful.
It appears that Liverpool are demanding £15m for the former Sevilla man, but would be open to a trade as Moreno’s lack of defensive discipline saw Klopp decide that playing Milner out of position would prove more successful.

Ghoulam started his career at his native Saint-Étienne before being signed by former Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez and, according to Italian news outlet Calcio Mercato, was recently in talks with a move to AC Milan.
As the full-back has only 12 months left on his contract in Naples, it appears that a move away from the Partenopei could be on the cards especially considering their interest in Moreno.
