Liverpool have made an enquiry for Monaco sensation Tiemoue Bakayoko, according to a report.
The Daily Mail claims both Jurgen Klopp’s side and Manchester United have made approaches to sign the £40million-rated midfielder via contact with his representatives.
It is said Chelsea are also after the 22-year-old, who has just helped Monaco to their first Ligue 1 title in 17 years.
French giants PSG are also interested in the midfield enforcer, though Chelsea lead the race for his signature and according to the Mail, he is “expected to move to Stamford Bridge”.
Klopp is keen to bolster his squad ahead of his side’s return to Europe, while Jose Mourinho wants to add steel to his midfield.
Bakayoko has been a mainstay of Monaco’s title winning side, making 50 appearances in all competitions, scoring three goals.
The 22-year-old has only one cap for the senior France team, but he is highly-regarded and made 13 appearances for the Under-21s.
Klopp definitely needs to add depth to his squad ahead of their return to Europe, whether it be Champions League or Europa League. Bakayoko would be a fine signing, if he can make it happen. He is strong in the tackle, quick and a fine passer of the ball – all attributes which would fit nicely into the Reds side. Though it seems Liverpool will face considerable opposition in the race to sign him, as Chelsea ready a bid and United are also interested.
