Neil Warnock’s latest comments on Virgil van Dijk’s ability are just crazy

Liverpool are three from three in the Premier League without conceding a single goal.

Jurgen Klopp’s side have dispatched West Ham 4-0, Crystal Palace 2-0 and Brighton 1-0 as they sit top of the league at this early stage of the campaign.

And three consecutive clean sheets will certainly please Klopp and the Liverpool fans.

Of course, new goalkeeper Alisson has played a big role in that with the Brazilian making several smart stops in the three matches he’s played.

But it’s the performances of Virgil van Dijk that has probably been the biggest factor behind Liverpool’s three shutouts.

The Dutchman was signed for £75 million last January and he’s been incredible since his arrival. In fact, Liverpool haven’t conceded a goal at Anfield since February – partly thanks to Van Dijk’s defending.

Many consider Van Dijk to now be the best defender in the Premier League.

However, not Cardiff boss Neil Warnock.

Last season, Warnock claimed that Cardiff defender Sol Bamba is “slightly better than van Dijk, defensive wise”.

This week, Warnock was asked about those comments once again and, rather than backtrack, he insisted Bamba is better than Van Dijk is defensive situations.

“I just think Sol’s a very, very good defender. He’s nowhere near like Van Dijk with the ball at his feet or calmness on the ball – (but) in a defensive situation I’d back Sol,” Warnock claimed.

Of course, Liverpool fans totally disagree. Check out the reaction to Warnock’s comments on social media:

While Warnock may think Bamba is better than Van Dijk as a defender, the Cardiff player himself certainly doesn’t think that.

“He got carried away. I wouldn’t have said that. Definitely not,” Bamba said.

We’re with Bamba on this one…
