Liverpool defender Nathaniel Clyne has told the Goal that Sheyi Ojo, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Marko Grujic are the three Reds youngsters to keep an eye on.
The Reds have a strong history of developing young talent to star in their first team over the years.
The most obvious choice is Steven Gerrard but the likes of Jamie Carragher, Michael Owen and more recently Raheem Sterling all came through the system to become Anfield stars.
Current manager Jurgen Klopp is a keen advocate of giving youth a chance and used several in his first-team squads last season.
The focus is on who that next star player could be, and Clyne believes three in particular stand out.
“There’s a lot of good, young players out there, I see some of their games and they are doing really well,” he told Goal.
“I’d say, yeah, Sheyi Ojo is really good. Trent Alexander-Arnold is another one who impresses. Marko Grujic is good as well. He is very confident on the ball, he has got a good shot as well. I am enjoying training and working with him.”
It now remains to be seen if any of those players do go on to become key men in Liverpool’s team in future.
At this moment in time Grujic arguably stands the best chance given the effort that Klopp put in to bring him to Anfield.
He has already impressed too, with several positive performances in pre-season including that superb header in the win over Barcelona.
The Reds midfield is a highly competitive one, though, and he will have to do something special to break into it at present.
