Nabil Fekir was asked about joining Liverpool – his two-word response has excited fans

Liverpool have the small matter of a Champions League final to look forward to on Saturday, but after that preparations will begin for the 2018-19 season.

Regardless of how the match against Real Madrid goes, it’s been a successful season for Jurgen Klopp and his side.

They’ve shown they can compete with the very best in Europe and even caused Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City plenty of problems, knocking the Premier League champions out of Europe at the quarter-final stage.

Virgil van Dijk’s arrival from Southampton in January has helped to shore up a defence that was considered a weak point and Klopp will feel that his squad is ready to compete for the biggest trophies on a regular basis.

It is thought that Liverpool will target a new goalkeeper in the transfer window but Roma sporting director Monchi has ruled the departure of Brazilian Alisson.

“Alisson? If he leaves, it’s just because I’ve gone back to being a goalkeeper,” Monchi joked.

“This is the only way he’ll leave, but I don’t know if I’m ready to play again.”

Lyon’s attacking midfielder Nabil Fekir is another target and the 24-year-old has left Liverpool supporters excited with a comment he made to RTL on Thursday.

The Frenchman was asked about a potential move to Liverpool. He replied: “Why not?”

So Fekir certainly sounds open to a move to Anfield.

“Later there can be discussions with the president, with my entourage, to make a decision,” he added. “In life, nothing can be forbidden.”

Fekir’s comment was quickly shared on social media and it sparked a great deal of reaction from Liverpool supporters.

Of course, this isn’t to say Fekir to Liverpool is definitely happening.

But ‘why not?’ suggests that he is ready to leave Parc Olympique Lyonnais – and may even attempt to force a move away.
