Mohamed Salah actually tops a Premier League list that no player wants to be top of

What a signing Mohamed Salah has proved to be.

There were a few eyebrows raised when Liverpool forked out a club-record £37 million for a player that failed to make the grade at Chelsea a few years previously.

But those that were doubting the signing of the Egyptian in the summer now look extremely foolish.

That’s because Salah has now scored 36 goals in all competitions and leads the Premier League goalscoring charts with 28 strikes, four ahead of the injured Harry Kane. And some believe that he deserves to win the Premier League Player of the Year ahead of Kevin de Bruyne.

It seems Salah can simply do no wrong right now and he’s already being linked with a big-money move to the likes of Real Madrid.

However, there is room for improvement for the 25-year-old.

While he’s set records tumbling since signing for Liverpool, it seems Salah does have a weakness – finishing.

That’s quite hard to believe considering the number of goals he’s scored but it’s true.

According to the official Premier League website, Salah is actually top of ‘Big Chances Missed’ this season with 19 opportunities squandered.

That puts him ahead of Christian Benteke and Harry Kane in second and third respectively.

Of course, missing ‘big chances’ is never a good thing. However, the fact that Salah is putting himself in the positions to be getting on the end of those chances is very important.

Just imagine if you could have scored a handful of those big chances he’s missed this season. He’d already be on 40 goals this campaign.

Nobody at Liverpool will really be concerned with Salah’s missed chances as long as he keeps scoring. And, following his four-goal haul against Watford on Saturday, some are even comparing him to five-time Ballon d’Or winner Lionel Messi.
