Michael Owen believes that Jurgen Klopp might need to look at bringing a new goalkeeper to Liverpool in the January transfer window.
The former Reds striker stated that the Reds look as though they have a “pretty complete squad” under Klopp this term, but conceded that the goalkeeping situation is one that could be looked at.
Klopp brought in Loris Karius from Mainz in the summer for around £4m, and the German shot-stopper has dislodged Simon Mignolet as the club’s first-choice.
Speaking to Sportlobster about the January window, Owen said that “the odd question mark” remains over both Karius and Mignolet.
Owen said: “Looking a bit further ahead into the January transfer window, I really do wonder what Jurgen Klopp is going to do.
“I think a lot will depend between now and then [are there] any injuries or loss of form. I think they have got a pretty complete squad.
“There’s maybe the odd question mark over the goalkeeper situation, but apart from that, all is rosy in the Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp camp.”
Last Saturday’s 4-2 win over Crystal Palace saw the Reds keep pace with Arsenal and Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table – and they are only kept off the top spot by goal difference.
Klopp’s men could go top for the first time since May 2014 when they entertain Watford on Sunday.
