Former Liverpool, Manchester United and Newcastle United striker Michael Owen has predicted on Betvictor.com that Liverpool will win against Southampton this weekend.
Liverpool will take on Southampton away from home at St. Mary’s Stadium in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
“The early kick off at Old Trafford is likely to get the most media attention this weekend, but I believe the most significant game could come at St Mary’s where Jurgen Klopp’s exciting Liverpool side face a stern test of their title credentials,” former Liverpool striker Owen wrote on Betvictor.com.
“Phillippe Coutinho would be my player of the season at Anfield so far this term, and the Brazilian has scored in three of his four previous PL visits to St Mary’s.
“I like this Saints side but this Liverpool team could be something very special; I think they can pass the examination in a game where I expect to see goals.”
A footnote added: “Michael’s recommendation: Over 3.5 goals at 15/8.”
Liverpool are going strong in the Premier League at the moment and are genuine contenders for the title this season.
Jurgen Klopp’s side are currently at the top of the table with 26 points from 11 matches.
The Reds are a point clear of second-placed Chelsea and will fancy their chances against Southampton.
The Saints will be confident of getting at least a point from the match as it is at St. Mary’s Stadium.
Claude Puel’s side are 10th in the Premier League table at the moment with 13 points from 11 matches.
Liverpool will head into the encounter against Southampton on the back of a 6-1 victory over Watford at Anfield in the league.
The Saints suffered a 2-1 defeat to Hull City away from home at the KCOM Stadium in the Premier League before the international break.
