Mane delivers special message to Liverpool fans after emphatic Anfield return

Not only have Liverpool’s players come under criticism in recent weeks but so have Reds supporters.

Anfield has been far from the fortress many, including Jurgen Klopp, would like it to be yet the roar returned to the terraces on Saturday as the players put in a breath-taking performance to beat Tottenham 2-0.

Sadio Mane can be held largely responsible for this with his two goals helping the side to a dominant victory over a top six rival after a run of dreadful results.

Mane has paid tribute to fans for their incredible welcome following his return from the African Cup of Nations.

“I want to thank all the supporters for what they have done for me,” he told the Liverpool Echo.

“I was very happy to hear that when I came off against Tottenham. Having that support means so much. It has really lifted me since I came back.”

“They give the team so much. I know that sometimes it hasn’t been easy for them but they are always behind us and always pushing us. We try to give our best for them.”

There is no need in overlooking just how much Klopp’s side missed him during his absence. His departure left us severely short of sheer pace and the explosive movement across the front line that played such a key role in our early season success.

His long-awaited arrival back to Liverpool posed as a timely reminder of the talent the manager has to work with throughout the rest of the campaign.

The mood around the club is as positive as it has been for weeks and the players look rejuvenated- if last weekend’s performance was anything to go by.

It’s a team effort until the very last game and that includes the fans giving it everything from the stands.
