Liverpool fans are feeling pretty confident about their transfer business this summer.
Sure, they’ll probably wish Nabil Fekir had also joined their ranks but with Jurgen Klopp effectively confirming that they’ve completed all their incomings, Kopites can feel rather satisfied.
The robust midfielder Naby Keita signed after originally agreeing a deal last year, Fabinho was brought in under the radar and Xherdan Shaqiri was signed as a perfect back-up to the club’s front three.
That’s not to mention the piece de resistance that is Alisson Becker, seemingly solving Liverpool’s goalkeeping problem to the tune of a world-record fee.
As a result, there’s great reason to suggest that Liverpool could challenge Manchester City for their Premier League crown and perhaps go on another Champions League run.
BRILLIANT SUMMER FOR LIVERPOOL
However, regardless of their transfer activity, any success next season will revolve around the performances of their aforementioned front three.
The club will have their fingers crossed that Mohamed Salah doesn’t prove to be a one-season wonder and continues the form that saw him tipped for Ballon d’Or contention.
They’ll also be hopeful that Roberto Firmino will still have plenty of energy in his legs to pester Premier League defences and provide ammunition for his strike partners.
LIVERPOOL TO REWARD MANE WITH MASSIVE NEW DEAL
Then, of course, there’s the often unsung hero of Sadio Mane.
The Senegalese forward scored in last season’s Champions League final and was crucial at key moments during their season, reportedly drawing interest from Real Madrid as a result.
His performances won’t look unrewarded, either, with Liverpool giving a major update to the player’s team after the conclusion of the club’s transfer business.
According to the Daily Mail, Liverpool have told Mane’s agent Sasha Empacher that they will have ‘no hesitation in re-writing and extending his deal’ to reward him for his performances last season.
Not only that, but the club are willing to make him their top earner alongside Salah and Firmino.
Empacher was in the United States last Wednesday to see Liverpool’s friendly win over Manchester City and met with Sporting Director Michael Edwards and Klopp himself after the game.
Liverpool have been so impressed with his performances that the fact he already has three years left on his deal has done little to deter their efforts to him.
And, as a result, it’s another massive reason why it’s a great time to be a Liverpool fan right now.
Arsenal fans felt like a new deal for Mesut Ozil was like a major signing back in February, so imagine the joy of Kopites with Salah, Firmino and Mane potentially all wielding new deals.
It would comprehensively secure the future of arguably the Premier League’s most deadly strike-force and ensure the triumvirate stays together.
While any deal with Mane won’t officially be considered transfer business, it would be the perfect way for Liverpool to wrap up what looks a wildly successful summer.
