MONACO star Thomas Lemar admits he was disappointed that a Premier League move did not materialise.
The French winger has been targeted by Arsenal and Liverpool during the last two transfer windows.
The Gunners were set to bring him to the Emirates last summer but backed out of the deal after baulking at Monaco’s £90m asking price.
And the 22-year-old was linked with a switch to Liverpool in January as a replacement for Philippe Coutinho.
The Brazilian joined Barcelona in a deal worth £142m but Jurgen Klopp chose not to splash out on an alternative, despite being linked with Lemar and Leicester’s Riyad Mahrez.
Lemar has struggled for the Ligue 1 side this season, scoring just three goals so far while providing eight assists.
But the France international insists that he is working hard as he looks to seal a move to England this summer.
“I’m not going to hide it, I was a little disappointed,” he told Telefoot. “I try not to think about it. I’ve kept working so that these clubs come back during the next transfer window.”
Liverpool and Arsenal are desperate to add to their squad this season as they look to keep up with Manchester City.
Following the international break, both sides are back in action next weekend.
Klopp’s side visit Crystal Palace on Saturday before Arsenal host struggling Stoke a day later.
