Ruben Neves has insisted it is not the right time in his career to move to another club.
The Wolves star has been linked with a switch to Liverpool and Manchester United in recent weeks after helping his side gain promotion to the Premier League.
Neves was a massive investment for Wolves at over £15million last summer, a Championship transfer record, and his performances have already peaked the interest of bigger clubs.
But the 21-year-old believes he is right to stay at Wolves and does not want to rush his development. He said: ‘Right now it’s not good for me to risk a way out.
I feel very good at Wolverhampton, I have no reason to leave because I’m going to play in the best league in the world. ‘The fans already know me, the club too, and everyone knows what I can do.
‘I had a great year and I love playing in Wolverhampton, so I have no interest in going out, because it’s the best for me and for my future.’ Neves is considered one of the brightest young stars in Portugal, but missed out on a spot in his country’s World Cup squad.
The news will be a blow to Neves who was involved in Portugal’s recent friendlies, but he has been given some advice by a Portugal legend, Deco.
He told Sky Sports: ‘He’s doing his career step by step. Normally when a player is doing well, everybody says he needs to change to a big club, but I think he’s doing his job. He needs to wait, he’s young.
‘He did well in the Championship when people maybe believed that would not be possible. If I was him I would just relax now and enjoy the Premier League.’
