The 2018/19 season was a memorable one for Liverpool.
While Jurgen Klopp’s side missed out on the Premier League title on the last day of the season to Manchester City, there were so many positives to take for the Reds.
They amassed the third highest points total in Premier League history, lost just one game and played some scintillating football.
Sadly, they were outdone by the machine that is Man City, but that is certainly not something to be ashamed of.
But it seems there is one department that Liverpool bested Pep Guardiola’s side in.
The official documents detailing the value of payments of broadcast and central commercial revenues to clubs for the 2018/19 season has now been released, with Liverpool at the top.
Despite finishing second, Liverpool made nearly £2m more than City.
A lot of that will be down to the fact that no team had more games broadcast on English television.
Twenty-nine of the Reds’ games were shown in England, three more than both City and Tottenham on 26.
Manchester United actually had the second highest number of games broadcast with 27, while Watford, Bournemouth, Southampton and Huddersfield were all tied for last on 10.
United fans will be happy to know that they will not be sixth in this table, as they made more than Arsenal and therefore leapfrog their London rivals.
Overall, the Premier League dished out a massive £2.46bn to clubs throughout the season.
More than £850m of that came from international television, further highlighting the massive global appeal of the division.
No league in the world, in any sport, can match the reach of the Premier League.
