REAL MADRID will reportedly only let Liverpool sign Dani Ceballos if they can sign a replacement this month.
Real Madrid midfielder Ceballos could join Liverpool with the Reds desperate to sign the 21-year-old before the transfer window slams shut at the end of the month.
The Spaniard has been earmarked as a potential replacement for Philippe Coutinho, who was sold to Barcelona last weekend for a huge £142million.
With the World Cup in Russia on the horizon, Ceballos is keen to leave Real in pursuit of regular first-team football to boost his chances of being included in Julen Lopetegui’s squad.
Yet Spanish website Diario Gol claim the midfielder will only be allowed to leave for Liverpool if Real can sign a replacement.
Speaking earlier this month, Zidane expressed a desire to keep hold of all players in his squad.
“I talked with the president and we looked at everything,” he said.
“We could speak about reinforcements, but there will be no signings at the minute, although anything could happen before the end of January.
“Of course, I don’t want any of the squad to leave.”
But Diario Gol say Ceballos could yet join Liverpool should Real land a suitable replacement.
However, Jurgen Klopp’s side are not the only team interested in striking a deal.
Real Betis are also in the mix for his signature.
Ceballos left Betis for Real in the summer but that move has backfired with the playmaker managing just 15 appearances across all competitions so far.
