Liverpool warned about £60m potential transfer of South American star

Roma insist they are ‘not thinking about selling their best players’ as goalkeeper Alisson continues to be linked with a summer move.

Liverpool and Real Madrid are among the clubs said to be interested in signing the Brazil international, who has flourished since joining Roma two years ago.

Alisson was strongly linked with a move from Serie A last summer – Liverpool explored the possibility of bringing him to Anfield while Real were keen to make him Keylor Navas’ replacement.

While the 25-year-old ended up staying put, he looks set to be the subject of more speculation come the summer. Roma value Alisson at over £60million and have told interested clubs that they are not currently considering selling any of their star players.

Speaking to Radio Rai, Roma CEO Umberto Gandini said: ‘We are not thinking about selling our best players.

‘Right now we are living a very important phase of our season. This club have always changed many players to improve.

‘The transfer window is dynamic, there big teams that change their identity to improve and not for economical reasons.’

Alisson, meanwhile, admitted this week that he was flattered to be linked with Real Madrid, telling Globoesporte: ‘Those links massage the ego, it cannot be denied.

‘People get satisfaction from having recognition. I feel very happy to have that recognition. ‘It means that I am doing my job well, that they are watching me. Even more so when one hears about Real Madrid.’

Jurgen Klopp was said to be keen on signing a new first-choice goalkeeper last summer but his plans may have changed after Loris Karius’ impressive run in the side.

The 24-year-old German has replaced Simon Mignolet in-between the sticks, helping Liverpool climb to third in the Premier League and qualify for the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
