Liverpool are reportedly hopeful that Sadio Mane can help convince Napoli centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly to snub interest from elsewhere to make the move to Anfield.
Koulibaly continues to be linked with a move away from Naples, and Manchester City are believed to be at the head of the queue for the Senegal international.
However, according to Le Parisien, Jurgen Klopp’s side have not given up hope of signing the defender this summer as a partner for Virgil van Dijk.
The report claims that the Premier League champions could call upon Mane in a bid to convince his international teammate to make the move to Merseyside.
Liverpool are said to be happy with their summer business at this stage, but the club are short of options in central defence following Dejan Lovren’s exit.
Napoli boss Gennaro Gattuso recently conceded that Koulibaly was likely to leave the Italian giants before the end of the transfer window if a suitable offer arrived.
