LIVERPOOL could use Daniel Sturridge in a bid to land Southampton pair Virgil van Dijk and Sam McQueen.
Daniel Sturridge has fallen down the pecking order at Anfield under boss Jurgen Klopp this season.
Sturridge has been used largely off the bench and has been linked with a move away fromLiverpool.
Saints boss Claude Puel wants a regular partner for striker Charlie Austin and has identified Sturridge as his No 1 target.
But Southampton are not convinced with the former Manchester City and Chelsea striker’s fitness and want to bring him in on loan before committing to a permanent deal.
West Ham and Stoke have also been linked with Sturridge, who has scored six goals in 15 games for club and country this season.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has not indicated he wants to sell Sturridge, but it is clear he is behind Roberto Firmino in his attacking ranks.
And Sturridge could end up heading to Southampton with Klopp interested in signing two of Puel’s players.
The Daily Star say Klopp is lining up a £40m double swoop for centre-back Van Dijk, 25, and 21-year-old left-back McQueen.
Manchester United have also been linked with Van Dijk, who is impressing at St Mary’s this season.
Sturridge was a substitute again for Liverpool’s 0-0 draw with Southampton on Saturday, despite the likes of Firmino, Sadio Mane and Philippe Coutinho clocking up miles on international duty.
